STEREO PREAMPLIFIER / PROCESSOR The vast majority of high end preamplifiers
available today are direct descendents of products that have been made for
decades, rooted in an all-analog world. The CP-800 is something new. It combines
key building blocks of a contemporary high-end audio system in a unique way to
improve and shorten the signal path. New technologies are applied to realize the
benefits of modern computer-based audio. Now, a CD ripped to a computer can
sound better than if played in a CD player; convenient and feature-rich access
to your music library is possible with state-of-the-art playback; a
Classé-designed Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS) with Power Factor Correction (PFC)
delivers higher performance at a lower price; there is no compromise at an
affordable price. And there is much more… Streaming/AirPlay A rear panel
Ethernet connection offers streaming options including Apple’s AirPlay and DLNA,
where sources benefit from special handling to accommodate files up to 192 kHz
with the CP-800’s own oscillators controlling timing for D-to-A conversion.
Convenience never sounded so good. IP Control When connected to your home
Network, the Classé App (available free of charge in the Apple App store)
running on Apple iOS devices offers a sophisticated alternative to the IR
remote. USB Having a dedicated computer in your listening room doesn’t have to

tablet. Classé’s unique implementation of asynchronous USB audio will render
studio-quality sound from properly ripped CDs and high-resolution music
downloads up to 192 kHz. Bass management No matter how well your speakers
reproduce bass, they are almost certainly not located in the optimum place in
your room to do so. The interaction of your speakers and the room will result in
signal cancelations or dips at certain frequencies at the listening position; no
amount of EQ can solve this problem. The solution is mono or stereo subwoofers,
outputs for which are available from the CP-800 with selectable crossover
frequency and slope in the digital domain. The result is deep, smooth bass
response without adding analog circuitry to the L&R channel signal paths. PEQ
Regardless where your speakers, subwoofer(s) and listening chair are in relation
to each other, there will likely be room modes that can only be addressed with
equalization. In most rooms, the three primary dimensions contribute to three
low frequency modes where the room actually increases the level causing peaks at
those frequencies. The CP-800 offers parametric equalization to help address
these real world problems. Performed in the digital domain, these high quality
filters allow optimization of low frequency response without adding analog
circuitry to the L&R channel signal paths. Tone Control Banished from legitimate
high-end preamps since the sixties, the tone control makes a come-back in the
CP-800, but with a modern implementation. Tone controls typically mean
additional analog circuitry in the signal path. The CP-800 introduces a flexible
tone control feature that is entirely digital. If you’ve ever wanted to soften a
recording’s top end a little or add a little warmth, you will appreciate the
convenience and subtlety of the CP-800’s Tilt tone control feature. After more
than forty years, the tone control is back, and now it works properly and
without compromise. Analog quality Make no mistake, the CP-800 is also our best

CA-D200 200W STEREO AMPLIFIER The CA-D200 is a
new and innovative amplifier design that uses what are called switching
technologies. Switching amplifiers and power supplies offer many advantages but
present different challenges and a higher degree of complexity than conventional
linear designs. Their potential is too great to ignore, however, which is why
the Classé Design team now includes engineers with over fifty years combined
experience in switching amplifier and power supply design. The result is the
CA-D200, the first of its type from Classé; the first of its type—period.
Switching Power Supply A new Switch Mode Power Supply with Power Factor
Correction, provides over 1,000W of clean, stable power to the CA-D200 amplifier
circuitry. The SMPS and PFC each operate at over 90% efficiency, yielding
impressive benefits for power delivery. The low frequency dynamics, extension
and control of the CA-D200 and its ability to effortlessly drive difficult
speaker loads can be credited in large part to the powerful and sophisticated
power supply it employs. The SMPS with PFC is ideally suited to the demands of
the CA-D200’s revolutionary switching amplifier topology. Switching Amplifier
Some technical limitations have been commonly accepted as inherent in switching
amplifiers—until now. Perhaps the biggest limitation is called dead-band time,
which translates directly to distortion and tempts designers to employ excessive
amounts of negative feedback to compensate. With its proprietary drivers and DSP
tools, the Classé Design team solves the dead-band time problem with precision
and consistency for each and every CA-D200. On power up, controller circuitry
analyzes and adjusts to minimize the dead-band time for each pair of outputs. In
this way, part tolerances and drift for each individual amplifier are taken into
account. Lastly, the feedback loop is closed using the least amount of negative
feedback required. Our linear phase output filters are then employed only to
filter the 384 kHz switching frequency, not to roll off the top end of the audio
band, as is often done to try to make amplifiers with high dead-band time more
listenable. The result is a wide and deep soundstage with extended high
frequencies that reveal a musically detailed and open midrange and top end.

La Serie CT si affianca alle altre serie
preesistenti (Delta e Omega) rispondendo ad una domanda proveniente dai clienti
dell’Home-Theater e da parte dei custom-installers, che necessitano di sistemi
di grandi prestazioni, ma che non desiderano al contempo turbare l’interior-design.
Su queste coordinate arriva la CT- Series. Tutti i componenti sono stati
progetti e costruiti per il montaggio in rack, costituendo la prima linea di
elettroniche high-end, tecnologicamente predisposte per questa applicazione. L’ICTunnel™,
il tunnel del freddo Uno dei primi e maggiori problemi da risolvere con
amplificazioni di grande potenza e dimensioni, e con controller zeppi di
processori al lavoro, è la dissipazione del calore. Il calore non procura
semplicemente “fastidio”; può mettere a repentaglio il corretto funzionamento
degli apparecchi ed inficiarne fortemente le qualità. Da qui l’adozione del
sistema di raffreddamento brevettato denominato ICTunnel e ribattezzato Icy
Tunnel. Questo consiste in un condotto di raffreddamento in alluminio - ad aria
forzata con ventola a basso rumore - che mantiene la temperatura ad un valore
prestabilito, ritenuto ottimale per il funzionamento dei transistors. Inoltre,
lo sviluppo di questo sistema di controllo termico, attuato tramite appositi
sensori - è molto rapido nell’intervento e di dimensioni molto contenute. Parte
integrante e sinergica del progetto è il pannello frontale, frutto della
soluzione tecnica denominata Detachable Quiet Flow Faceplate. Questo è ricavato
da un blocco di alluminio 6063-T6 ed è montato in modo da lasciare spazio al
passaggio dell’aria destinata alla ventilazione, oltre a fornire esso stesso un
contributo alla dissipazione del calore. Per evitare la diffusione della polvere
negli apparecchi e nell’ambiente da un filtro specifico, controllato da un
sensore che avverte l’utilizzatore quando ha bisogno di essere lavato. In tutti
i componenti della CT-Series sono a corredo dei binari per il montaggio in rack

amplifiers come with their own adjustable rack rails and a separate faceplate
designed to conceal all mounting hardware along the sides of the rack. The rails
adapt easily to common rack depths while providing front to back support of the
chassis. Hidden inside, our unique Intelligent Cooling Tunnel, orICTunnel™ (pronounced
Icy Tunnel) architecture and related circuitry quietly controls the amplifier
temperature, ensuringoptimum performance and reliability in enclosed, poorly
ventilated environments. Conventional high-end amplifiers use heatsinks with
high thermal mass that rely on convection to cool the active circuits. They are
slow to heat up and slow to cool down. Eventually they heat up their environment
and as the air around them gets hotter, they become part of the problem. For
this reason, high-powered amps and racks or cabinets don’t easily mix.Product

CD Player It is alive! More than twenty years after the first CD players arrived
on store shelves, the compact disc format is alive and well. Despite challenges
by DAT, mini-disc, SACD and DVD-Audio among others, the CD remains the gold
standard for music lovers worldwide. Music collections often contain a variety
of recordings using everything from compressed files such as MP3, to
uncompressed, high-bandwidth, high bit-rate formats such as DVD-Audio. Most
collections, however, are dominated by the compact disc. For this reason, no
serious music lover/audiophile should be without a top-quality CD player. The
Classé Design Team has developed the CDP-102 and CDP-202 as two-channel CD
players, perfectly suited for the needs of the contemporary music lover/audiophile.
Although capable of playing a great variety of discs (CD, MP3, DVD-Video,
DVD-Audio, etc.), the CDP-102 and CDP-202 are optimized for playback of
two-channel music. Classé Disc Player Platform The CDP-102 and CDP-202 utilize
the advanced platform introduced by the ground breaking CDP-300 DVD Player. As
in the CDP-300, the CDP-102 and CDP-202 utilize a TEAC ® slot-loader mechanism
for reading discs. It was chosen in place of the older drawer-loading designs
because of its superior disc-handling characteristics, reliability and control
flexibility. Elimination of the drawer also facilitates a greater range of
installation options. Loading remains convenient even when the player is mounted
at or above eye-level in equipment racks, where placing discs in trays can be
awkward. Fitting neatly within the Delta series model's black control strip, the
slot is illuminated by a soft blue light to assist when loading discs in a
darkened room. The CDP-102 and CDP-202 share the beautiful industrial design and
elegant control screens found throughout the Delta series range. They are the
first CD players to offer touchscreen control and video preview on the front
panel. The preview feature allows audiophiles the option of enjoying a pure
music listening session without video, because DVD-Audio (or DVD-Video) discs
may be navigated directly from the front panel. The Classé CDP platform is a 'from
the ground up' design. It features special vibration-absorbing feet, a strong
and rigid chassis and DVD-ROM drive. The drive, also used in the CDP-300 DVD
Player, is capable of reading CD, DVD-Audio, DVD-Video, MP3, WMA, Video-CD and
S-VCD discs. A special test/monitor output allows connection of composite and
S-video signals to standard definition displays. CDP-102 The CDP-102 utilizes
the same digital and analog audio circuit topologies as the CDP-300, with the
exception being the number of output channels. As a two-channel machine, the
CDP-102 down-mixes multichannel recordings (from DVD-Audio or DVD-Video discs)
to two channels for its left and right analog outputs. Digital outputs may
provide either two-channel or multichannel signals, as would be available from
Dolby Digital ® or DTS ® recordings. Regardless whether analog or digital
outputs are used, the superior performance of the CDP-102 begins with careful
routing and clocking (timing) of digital audio signals. The presence of jitter
at the point of conversion from digital to analog increases distortion and robs
the playback system of resolution. To reduce jitter in the CDP-102 (as in the
CDP-300), digital audio signals are routed through a CPLD (Complex Programmable
Logic Device) and sample rate converter. They are re-created as 24-bit/192kHz
signals and re-clocked before being output to the D-to-A converters. By
attacking jitter at its source, the Classé Design team makes great sounding

filters) perform the delicate process of converting digital audio to analog.
Both channels of the stereo DAC are themselves converted as differential signals.
The CDP-102 offers both single-ended and balanced analog outputs. Unlike other
designs offering both formats, the single-ended (RCA) path is fully optimized
and independent of the balanced (XLR) path. While the balanced path is truly
differential, from the output of the DAC, the single-ended path benefits from
the differential topology as well. Instead of using one half of the balanced
signal to derive a single-ended output, the CDP-102 employs a differential
amplifier to properly combine the two signals and gain the benefit of common
mode rejection from the balanced topology. In addition to its superb sonic
performance and touchscreen control the CDP-102 offers a suite of advanced
features to enhance its value in a diverse range of installations. Among them
are variable analog outputs, two-channel down-mix of multichannel recordings,

The surround sound processor is the core of a high-end home theater system. It
directly connects to almost every other component in the system and can either
limit or reveal their true potential. Starting over two years ago, the Classé
Design Team began an extensive evaluation of the new breed of high definition
audio and video technologies. Their research served as the inspiration for a new
challenge: the creation of the definitive SSP—a surround sound processor to set
the standard as the high definition era dawns. The result is the SSP-800,
Classé’s statement preamp/processor.The SSP-800 was conceived with pure
performance as its raison d’être. It can seamlessly weave audio and video into a
faithful reproduction of the original master, reproducing music and movies
exactly as the artists imagined. It was created by people who are uniquely
qualified, having both the technical skill and aesthetic judgment to bring
performances to life. High Definition Meets High Quality In recent years the
development of high definition audio and video has accelerated, rendering many
relatively new home theater components incompatible or obsolete. The early
adopter’s quest for the latest technology is never cheap or without risk. But
those who have sought out the highest quality components have been able to relax
and enjoy them. They know that the latest technology is rarely a threat to
genuine quality. When a new component is released which wraps important
new technologies in a package of superior quality, it is time to sit up and take
notice. The introduction of the SSP-800 is just such an occasion, when
enthusiasts should consider upgrading their systems. The SSP-800 is a
ten-channel preamp/processor, offering both balanced and single-ended
connections for all channels. Audio Digital Signal Processing (DSP) is handled
by a Texas Instruments-based platform which operates in 64-bit double precision.
It uses floating point arithmetic for all audio signal calculations to ensure
the most accurate results possible. All bass management filters, level
adjustments and parametric filters also benefit from the added precision. To
ensure the SSP-800 retains its value and competitive edge, the Classé Design
Team has designed the DSP onto a replaceable module to accommodate a planned
future upgrade. Superior audio performance is achieved by combining powerful DSP
with balanced topologies, advanced component parts and meticulous circuit
layout. A dedicated linear power supply using a low-noise toroidal transformer
powers the analog audio circuits. Digital and control circuits are powered by
their own dual-output, low-noise, high-current switching supply. High
quality digital-to-analog converters and output stage components are configured
to ensure exceptional dynamic range and resolution. Audio circuits are isolated
from video and control circuits by optocouplers and low voltage differential
signal (LVDS) pathways. Digital and analog circuits and grounds are isolated
from each other among and within circuit boards. Throughout the SSP-800
there are examples of HD technology executed at the highest quality level. It is
the combination of advanced technology and genuine quality that sets the SSP-800
apart. And while technology and quality give the SSP-800 its intrinsic value, we
measure its true worth first on the test bench and then in the sound room. Music
First Music listening remains the most reliable method of judging sound quality.
In fact, no surround processor can accurately reproduce movie sound if it fails
to reproduce music properly. At Classé, our first priority is developing
components that perform exceptionally well with music. We then turn our
attention to processor decoding capabilities and developing features that
enhance flexibility and in-room performance. With musical performance as
its benchmark, the SSP-800 was conceived as a high-performance multichannel
preamplifier. For two-channel listening both balanced and single-ended analog
sources may bypass all analog-to-digital, DSP and digital-to-analog stages.
Alternatively, the full range of processing capabilities including bass
management and parametric equalization is available for both analog and digital
sources. The SSP-800 changes the game by doing what no preamp/processor has done
before: it performs as well with music as a dedicated stereo DAC and
preamplifier. The secret of its breathtaking performance lies not in some new
parts or special features, although it has many. What sets the SSP-800 apart is
the depth of experience never before brought to bear on a multichannel design.
Analog to Digital Modern source components are increasingly optimized for use
with digital interconnections and the SSP-800 capitalizes on this trend. Older
surround processors are typically equipped with a vast array of analog inputs.
These have been minimized in the SSP-800 and largely replaced by digital
connectors. Four HDMI 1.3b (High Definition Multimedia Interface) inputs for
audio/video sources are supplemented by standard SPDIF (coax) and EIAJ (optical)
digital inputs for audio. HDMI is the connection standard adopted for high
definition A/V sources. An HDMI cable may carry 1080p HD video signals and
uncompressed multichannel LPCM digital audio as well as the latest HD audio
codecs (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio) and certain control signals.
Several versions of HDMI have been introduced, each surpassing the other in
bandwidth and support for additional features. While the hardware used to
transmit and receive on HDMI may be labeled by its version number (the SSP-800
uses version 1.3b for all HDMI inputs and outputs), there will be differences
among products’ actual capabilities. The SSP-800 uses HDMI 1.3b primarily
to support the component’s long life in an evolving market. As new sources
emerge, the SSP-800 offers the potential for transferring more information into
and through its circuitry. For example, the video signal path supports 36-bit
Deep Color video, even though Blu-ray Discs are only 24-bit video sources. In
general, the bandwidth of components and circuitry in the SSP-800 is sufficient
to accommodate all current and proposed next-generation sources.
Touchscreen Control and More Classé Delta series components were the first A/V
products to offer touchscreen control. Since then, touchscreen control has
become an integral benefit for other consumer electronics products. Touchscreen
control is more reliable and infinitely more flexible than the older style
controls using push-buttons with fixed-segment displays. The SSP-800 is
custom installation friendly. It is equipped with bi-directional RS-232 control
and status, rear panel IR, front panel IR transmitter/receiver, CAN BUS and DC
triggers. Video sources of all HDTV resolutions including 1080p are available
for viewing on the touchscreen. On Screen Display (OSD) messages can be overlaid
on all video signals. Older analog video sources are converted to digital and
made available on the HDMI outputs. For displays lacking digital video
connections, a component video output is available for analog video sources.
Real World Applications In addition to quality and technology, the SSP-800 has
flexibility built in. Its ten-channel design creates the possibility of
configuring two channels for additional subwoofers or as mirrors of the front
left and right channels for bi-amplifying the front left and right speakers.
Alternatively, these two channels may be devoted to delivering audio to a
separate room or system, with source selection shared with the main theater and
either fixed or variable output. Five-band parametric equalization is provided
for each of the ten channels to help tune the system to its environment. Classé
has elected to offer the system EQ as a manual feature. While several automated
systems are available on the market, the complexity of room acoustics guarantees
that no automatic system can achieve consistent, optimum results. Our experience
is that the best results are obtained by combining measurements with human
judgment. The filters used in the EQ are rendered accurately by our processor,
which uses floating point arithmetic operating in 64-bit double-precision. The
wealth of knowledge applied to the SSP-800 design and the inspiration for its
execution do not come from a textbook—they come from the passion and dedication

Conventional high-end amplifiers use heatsinks with high thermal mass that rely
on convection to cool the active circuits. They are slow to heat up and slow to
cool down. Eventually they heat up their environment and as the air around them

and racks or cabinets don’t easily mix. Conventional heatsinks are simply shaped
pieces of metal, relying on placement and ambient air to extract heat from the
amplifier. The ICTunnel™ is more sophisticated, acting like the human
hypothalamus regulating body temperature. The ICTunnel™ utilizes an aluminum
bonded-fin heatsink, of the kind used in high powered medical, laser and test
equipment. It exploits the principle of low thermal mass, so it heats quickly
